I can hardly believe that it’s already time to start thinking about Document Your December. I would swear that I *just* finished MOC ’17!! Alas, we are rounding the corner to the end of November, and it’s time to get ready to capture all of those December holiday memories. If you haven’t heard of DYD before, it’s a style of scrapping in which people capture moments throughout their December. Here at TLP, our designers are so awesome that the always create a huge assortment of coordinating products for this project, and we have a pretty active DYD section of the forums here.
I actually have not done DYD the last few years. As I stepped away from “Project Life” style scrapping, DYD wasn’t able to hold my interest any longer. Once I saw all the awesome products that the designers released this year, I was inspired to give this project a try again. Since deciding to do it, I have been preparing myself to be successful with DYD this year. Here are a few things that I am doing.
Organize Materials – I am sticking to products that the designers created for this year so that there is a cohesive thread running through all of the pages. I have organized all of the materials by papers, elements, templates, journal cards, etc. That way I’m not digging through five separate folders trying to find a paper to use.
Build Foundation Pages – Right now, I am working on building the pages for my album (two per day). I am adding everything but the photos. That way, as I start gathering photos in December, I will just be able to add them to the pages and be done. There is a great thread talking about building foundation pages in the forums that has helped inspire and guide me through this.
Plan what photos to take – One thing that always gets me about projects like this is having photos from every day. I inevitably end up taking random photos to use, and that’s not always what I want. This year, I am thinking about what I want to take photos of and share. In the forum, there is a great list of inspiration for photos for each day, and if you search Pinterest you are likely to find more.
